The Catanduanes State University is a public university in the Philippines mandated to provide higher professional and technical instruction and training in business education and commerce; and for special purposes, to promote research, advance studies, and progressive leadership in the field of education, business education and commerce.

Mandate
Pursuant to RA 10229 the Catanduanes State University is mandated to primarily provide advance education, higher technological, professional instruction and training in trade,commerce, fishery, agriculture, Arts and Sciences, Industrial Technology, Nursing, Midwifery, Education, Engineering, Public Administration, Information Technology, and other relevant fields of study. It is also directed to undertake research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization.
